St. Petersburg, FL – Two Killed, Child Hurt in 5th Ave S Crash at 22nd St S

St Petersburg, FL (October 18, 2024) – A motor vehicle accident reported in the St. Petersburg area claimed the lives of two people while leaving a child seriously injured. The collision occurred at around 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 15.

According to law enforcement, a tow truck was traveling westbound near 5th Avenue South and 22^nd Street South during the evening hours. For unknown reasons, the vehicle collided with a Honda CRV. The St. Petersburg Police Department rushed to the scene and immediately closed down the road. One person involved in the accident, identified as 35-year-old Shakesha Desence, was severely injured in the accident. Despite medical efforts, she was rushed to an area hospital, where she passed away from her injuries. A second victim involved in the accident, identified as 72-year-old Dilean Descence, was fatally injured and pronounced deceased at the scene. A 9-year-old child was seriously injured and rushed to Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital for emergency medical treatment. At this time, the incident is under investigation.
