Tampa, FL (September 17, 2024) – A Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office deputy was injured as a result of a major motor vehicle accident that occurred over the weekend. The collision took place on Saturday evening, September 14.

Reports show that a trooper was responding to a crash located on State Road 674 near 15th Street. For unknown reasons, a Ford pickup truck ran a stop sign and collided with the deputy, who was seriously injured as a result of the accident. The victim, identified as 47-year-old Deputy Ivan Clark, sustained multiple injuries and was airlifted and flown to an area hospital for emergency care. The driver of the pickup truck, identified as 25-year-old Uriel Garcia Nestor, was determined to be under the influence. He was taken into police custody. At this time, the incident is under investigation.
