Tampa, FL – Seffner Man Killed in Crash on I-75 Exit Ramp

Tampa, FL (March 8, 2025) – A fatal accident claimed the life of a Seffner man on Friday afternoon when his vehicle collided with a stopped tow truck on an Interstate 75 exit ramp.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the incident took place on March 7 around 1:30 p.m. A 66-year-old man from Seffner was traveling northbound on the exit ramp to Fowler Avenue when, for reasons still under investigation, he veered onto the outside shoulder and crashed into a stationary flatbed tow truck.

Emergency crews arrived at the scene and transported the Seffner man to a nearby hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the tow truck, a 25-year-old man from Plant City, was unharmed in the crash. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident. At this time, it is unclear what caused the driver to leave the roadway.

We extend our condolences to the family of the victim during this grieving time.

Car Accidents in Florida

Tampa, FL - Seffner Man Killed in Crash on I-75 Exit RampFlorida sees a significant number of car accidents each year. According to state data, tens of thousands of crashes occur annually, with many resulting in severe injuries or fatalities. The state’s high traffic volume, along with distracted driving and roadway hazards, often contribute to these tragic incidents.

Accidents like this highlight important roadway concerns. Below are some critical factors that contribute to crashes:

  • Driver Distraction: Phones, in-car entertainment systems, and other distractions often lead to drivers losing focus on the road. Even a few seconds of inattention can have catastrophic consequences.
  • Speeding and Aggressive Driving: Exceeding the speed limit or making unsafe maneuvers increases the likelihood of serious crashes. High speeds reduce reaction time and increase impact force.
  • Roadway and Weather Conditions: Wet roads, construction zones, and poorly maintained highways can make driving hazardous. Poor visibility or sudden obstructions can also cause unexpected accidents.
  • Drowsy Driving: Fatigue impairs reaction time and decision-making, making it as dangerous as driving under the influence. Long hours behind the wheel contribute to many crashes each year.
  • Vehicle Malfunctions: Faulty brakes, tire blowouts, and mechanical failures can make it impossible for drivers to maintain control, leading to devastating collisions.
