Tampa, FL – Two Pedestrians Struck by Three-Wheel Vehicle on 7th Ave

Tampa, FL (July 20, 2025) – An early morning crash involving a three-wheeled vehicle left two pedestrians and two others injured in Tampa on Saturday, July 19. The collision occurred around 12:40 a.m. near the intersection of East 7th Avenue and Angel Oliva Senior Street, according to the Tampa Police Department.

Investigators say a 2022 Can Am Ryker was heading east on 7th Avenue when it struck a man and woman, both in their 30s, who were walking near a designated crosswalk. After hitting the pair, the Ryker continued forward and crashed into a parked car before slamming into another vehicle that was waiting in traffic.

The driver of the Ryker, a woman in her early 40s, suffered significant injuries. A female passenger in her mid-20s was also hurt. Both pedestrians were seriously injured but are expected to survive. All four people involved were taken to nearby hospitals for medical care.

Police believe the driver may have suffered a medical episode prior to the accident, which might have contributed to the loss of control. There were no signs of drug or alcohol use, and an investigation is still underway to determine exactly what happened.

We hope for a full and fast recovery for everyone injured in this crash.

Car Accidents in Florida

Tampa, FL - Two Pedestrians Struck by Three-Wheel Vehicle on 7th AveThousands of crashes are reported each year across Florida, and pedestrian-involved incidents are among the most dangerous. With many active nightlife areas, cities like Tampa often see these collisions in the early hours, when reduced visibility and traffic congestion increase the risks.

These situations show just how many variables can lead to injury. Here are a few key issues to consider following an accident:

  • Specialty Vehicle Control: Operating three-wheeled vehicles requires different handling than a car. Inexperienced or unwell drivers may have difficulty maintaining control, especially in city traffic.
  • Late-Night Urban Traffic: Crashes frequently occur in the early morning due to fatigue, poor lighting, or reduced alertness. Both drivers and pedestrians should be extra cautious during these hours.
  • Health Emergencies While Driving: When someone experiences a sudden health issue behind the wheel, it can quickly turn into a dangerous situation for everyone around. Medical problems are a growing factor in single-vehicle and multi-vehicle crashes.
  • Multiple Vehicle Involvement: After hitting the pedestrians, the Ryker hit two more vehicles. These kinds of secondary impacts can increase injuries and property damage for others who weren’t involved in the initial collision.
  • Pedestrian Safety Measures: Even near a crosswalk, pedestrians are vulnerable. Accidents can happen if drivers fail to slow down or if crosswalks aren’t well-lit or clearly marked.
