Venice, FL – Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-75 Near Jacaranda Blvd
Last updated Monday, April 7th, 2025
Venice, FL (April 6, 2025) – First responders were dispatched Friday afternoon following a crash that unfolded on the northbound side of Interstate 75 near mile marker 193, close to the Jacaranda Boulevard Exit.
The collision occurred at approximately 2:55 p.m. on April 5 and involved three to four vehicles, including a blue compact sedan and a pickup truck. According to authorities, the left lane of the interstate was completely blocked while emergency medical teams and police worked to assist those at the scene.
At least one person sustained injuries in the accident. Paramedics treated victims on-site before transporting them to nearby hospitals for further care. The extent of injuries remains to be confirmed, and no fatalities have been reported at this time. The crash caused significant traffic delays along this stretch of I-75 as emergency vehicles lined the roadway. Drivers were urged to seek alternate routes to avoid the congestion. The Florida Highway Patrol is currently conducting an investigation to determine the exact cause of the crash.
We hope those injured in this accident recover quickly.
Car Accidents in Florida
Florida experiences thousands of motor vehicle collisions each year, many of which lead to injuries or worse. In 2023 alone, there were over 390,000 crashes statewide, resulting in more than 250,000 injuries. These collisions occur for various reasons, but distracted driving and speeding remain two of the top contributors. Whether the crash happens on a city street or major interstate, lives can be upended in seconds.
When it comes to motor vehicle accidents, one important aspect to understand is how insurance laws impact injury claims. Here are some helpful things to know:
- Florida is a no-fault state: Regardless of who is at fault, drivers must first turn to their own insurance for coverage of medical bills. Personal Injury Protection (PIP) is required, but it only covers a portion of medical expenses and lost wages. That’s why many victims pursue claims against the other party when serious injuries are involved.
- Serious injury threshold: To step outside the no-fault system, an injury must meet certain criteria under Florida law. This can include significant or permanent loss of a bodily function, permanent injury, or substantial disfigurement. Meeting this threshold allows a victim to sue the at-fault driver.
- Insurance companies don’t always play fair: Adjusters may downplay your injuries or offer quick settlements that don’t cover long-term needs. Legal representation can help ensure you get what you truly deserve.
- Time limits matter: Florida law sets a time limit of two years for personal injury lawsuits related to auto accidents. Missing this deadline can mean losing your right to seek compensation altogether.
