Car Accidents in Florida

Dover, FL - Crash With Injuries Reported at US-92 and Reola RdCar crashes remain one of the most frequent causes of injury in Florida. In 2023 alone, the state reported over 390,000 motor vehicle collisions, many of which resulted in injuries or fatalities. Florida’s busy highways and rural intersections alike often become hotspots for serious incidents. Florida has taken steps toward improving traffic safety, but negligent or distracted driving continues to contribute to these preventable incidents each year.

Understanding what to expect after a crash can help victims better protect their rights. Here are a few common causes of car accidents in Florida:

  • Distracted Driving: This includes texting, adjusting the GPS, or even eating while driving. Distractions take the driver’s attention off the road, increasing the risk of a collision. Even a momentary lapse in focus can cause a serious crash, especially at intersections like US-92 and Reola Road.
  • Speeding: Driving above the posted limit or too fast for conditions can lead to major accidents. Speed reduces the driver’s ability to react to sudden changes and increases the severity of collisions.
  • Failure to Yield: Intersections can become dangerous when drivers do not yield the right-of-way properly. These types of crashes often occur during left-hand turns or when merging onto busy roads.
  • Impaired Driving: Alcohol or drug impairment severely diminishes reaction time and judgment. DUI-related crashes are among the most deadly on Florida roadways.
  • Weather Conditions: Rain and poor visibility can make roads slippery and reduce control. Drivers must adjust their behavior accordingly, but many fail to do so, causing accidents.
