Lakeland, FL – One Killed in Car Crash on Kathleen Rd

Lakeland, FL (August 28, 2024) – A motor vehicle accident reported in Lakeland on Tuesday afternoon claimed one person’s life. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene at around 3:25 p.m. on August 27.
Official reports show that a pickup truck was traveling across the train tracks that are parallel to Kathleen Road. For unknown reasons, the truck was struck by a cargo train in the area between Spivey Road and Deeson Road. One person involved in the accident was fatally injured. The victim was subsequently pronounced deceased. At this time, the circumstances surrounding the accident are being investigated.
