Lealman, FL (July 15, 2024) – A pedestrian accident reported in Pinellas County claimed one person’s life. Authorities were called to the scene of the accident at around 12:50 a.m. on July 14.

Official reports indicate that a Pinellas County Sheriff’s deputy was driving a marked patrol vehicle southbound on 49^th Street North during the early morning hours. As the vehicle proceeded forward, a woman in a red pickup truck attempted to alert the driver of something on the road. The deputy became distracted and struck a pedestrian on the road. The pedestrian, identified as 73-year-old Mark Hunter, was severely hurt in the crash. Despite medical treatment, the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. At this time, investigations into the accident are underway by the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Major Accident Investigation Team.
